Hitchcock trilogy, screening at CofC in April.

Fellow cinephiles! I’d like to announce a film series, featuring Hitchcock’s three great films from his late period: Psycho (1960), The Birds (1963), and Marnie (1964). The films make up what one critic calls “Hitchcock’s trilogy of modern despair.” Indeed, all films depict a bleak world in which modern sociability fails to guarantee stability, comfort, or trust. At the heart of all three films is the figure of the (bad?) mother–a significant Hitchcock trope. The schedule is as follows: Psycho will be screened April 3, The Birds will be screened April 10, and Marnie, April 17. All films will be shown at 7:00pm in RSS 235 on the College of Charleston campus. Free and open to the public.
