Dr. Seuss scholar to speak at the College tonight, 6:00pm in Robert Scott Small room 235
Philip Nel, a former faculty member of the College of Charleston and now a Professor of English at Kansas State University, will be giving a talk on Dr. Seuss at 6:00pm in RSS 235. The talk is entitled “Was teh cat in the Hat Black? Seuss and Race in the 1950s.” Dr. nel is a scholar of children’s literature and author of several books, including Dr. Seuss: American Icon and, more recently, Crockett johnson and Ruth Krauss: How an Unlikely Couple Found Love, Dodged the FBI, and Transformed Children’s Literature.
