The semester long film series continues with Woody Allen’s (sort of) first film, What’s Up, Tiger Lily? (1966). The title of this film bears more resemblance to What’s New, Pussycat? (1965), which Allen wrote, than to International Secret Police: Key of Keys, which is the basis of tonight’s film. Allen, with a few friends as collaborators, overdub the Japanese spy thriller but with completely new dialogue. Long before MST3K, Allen new the comic value of talking over cheesey movies. This one stars Tatsuya Mihashi, Akiko Wakabayashi, and Mei Hama. The latter two appeared in the James Bond film, You Only Live Twice (1967). Great swingin’ 60s soundtrack by The Lovin’ Spoonful. Don’t miss this one. We’ll see you there at 7:00pm in ECTR 118.
