07/14/2022 Drive to Liberia

Today we have the long trek to Liberia, the Guanacaste area. Packing the bags in the van was a struggle thanks to Jack bringing a massive bag but we were able to figure it out thankfully. In about an hour we are going to stop for breakfast and I will check back later. We finally arrived at Playa Hermosa, the group left and explored the beach area and also had some fresh ceviche again. The family-owned and operated hotel was wonderful and the family was incredibly kind. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling there.

07/13/2022 Company Visits

Today we had the pleasure of listening to three different companies explain the importance of Costa Rican exports and how to continuously improve and grow. PROCOMER is a company that advises other businesses who want their goods exported. PROCOMER helps to guide them through the process and gives them resources to be successful. Costa Rica Aerospace Cluster is a group of 35 companies that come together and continuously develop technology software. We learned that prior to 2010 there was not a business or manufacturer that could complete all 9 processes it takes to complete a project. Now with the cluster, those processes are more efficient and continue to work as a team to create new products. Videndum is a camera head and tripod manufacturer where products are used to carry up to 75-kilogram cameras. After the presentations and tours, the group of us went to the wrong mall and ate at an American tap house. After lunch we started to walk to where Dr. G was, we spotted him on the road and all jumped in as fast as we could. Later tonight, after completing most of the reports and videos, we went to La45 a trendy burger and nacho restaurant where we ordered a pile of nachos. The Burgers there were bigger than our faces and we enjoyed unwinding with each other after a long day.

07/12/2022 Arrival to San Jose

During my first day in San Jose, Santi and I waited at the airport for the rest of the group to go through customs. While waiting the taxi drivers asked us too many times if we needed one, they even came into the deli we were sitting in. Once we met up with the rest of the group and got the rental van we were off to the hotel. A quaint family-owned establishment housed us graciously for two nights. The first night we went to a wonderful pizzeria before our large welcome dinner. During the welcome dinner, we were served the best corvina ceviche. A wonderful introduction to San Jose.
