Welcome to Costa Rica Study Abroad 2022

Costa Rica is in the Center of America, that is why many times in the local news we can hear about a Central American country called Costa Rica. This is a country with many mountains, and with rainy weather during the winter season. (Known as rainy season). From May to October the country received a generous amount of water from the rains. Costa Rica has both Caribbean and Pacific coasts (we will visit the Pacific coast). The capital of Costa Rica is San Jose (Costa Rica is a Catholic country and the Capital was offered to the Patron Saint of workers, San Jose). In Costa Rica people are friendly, they will always be willing to help, and the use of English is very common in the young population and in tourist areas. The currency of Costa Rica is the Colon, in honor of the discoverer of America, Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus). Costa Rica has 7 provinces, of which we will visit 6 in this expedition. Costa Rica well known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. About a quarter of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds.
The food is diverse, we will not find Chick File, but there are plenty of places with chicken so tasty that you will love it. All the other food chains that we usually visit in Charleston are available all over the country.
Remember that the key word is PURA VIDA, with that you will have the generous smile of the Ticos and their kindness as an answer,It isĀ not difficult to find a church (you noticed, we walked 20 times around it that day), I hope we can enjoy this academic and social adventure and that your trip to Costa Rica is unforgettable.
