As the department continues to celebrate National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), this week’s blog will feature the Cyber Security Club. Officially sanctioned on November 11th, 2014, the cyber security club is a student-led, student-run group that focuses on the security and privacy within all realms of information technology. With Dr. Xenia Mountrouidou as the faculty advisor, the club leverages a variety of disciplines, expertise, and experiences in order to provide a full learning experience for members.
The club meets every Thursday evening at 5:30PM at Harbor Walk East room 301 to learn new skills in the realm of cyber security. No experience is needed to participate, just the willingness to learn! Meetings are laid-back while gaining hands-on experience. In addition to weekly meetings, the club plans to participate in cyber events, including Capture the Flag, Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition, and the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
