The Department of Computer Science is gearing up to celebrate National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) during the month of October. We will be joining a growing global effort among businesses, government agencies, colleges and universities, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote online safety awareness.
Recognized every October, NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure all digital citizens have the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online while also protecting their personal information. As an official Champion, the Department of Computer Science recognizes its commitment to cyber security, online safety and privacy.
As part of the department’s NCSAM efforts, we will be offering online safety tips on social media, featuring topics about cyber security on the department blog, and hosting two speaker events:

- Eileen Callahan, research protections & compliance manager, will talk about current ethical issues in computing research including cyber crimes

October 24, 2016, 3:30PM at HWWE, Room 217
- Dr. Xenia Mountrouidou, the department’s newest assistant professor, will talk about her cyber security research lab and the opportunities available in her lab
