Daily Life for a Public Relations Intern

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is a nonprofit organization that educates the public on the necessary conditions for business and communities to thrive, how business positively impacts communities, and helps businesses prepare for the future.

We are seeking research interns for the spring semester (exact dates are flexible).

The students we select to fill this position will report to the Director of Emerging Issues at the Foundation. Our research internship is a paid position of up to 40 hours a week at the Foundation’s office near the White House. Job Responsibilities:

Summer Internship with Communities in Schools

Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area is looking for a College of Charleston student (preferably majoring in Communication or Marketing) who is staying in Charleston for the summer (May-mid August) and interested in a non-profit internship opportunity.

Our team is looking for a goal-driven and detail-oriented individual who is interested in development, marketing, event planning and possibly some social media.

A little about us; we aid more than 8,000 at-risk students annually by surrounding them with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Currently, our Site Coordinators provide support services and case management to students in 15 Title I (high poverty) Charleston and Berkeley County schools (K-12). We host two fundraiser events throughout the year including the Push Up & Up Challenge (October) and The Chocolate Affair (February) which includes a live and silent auction.

The internship is unpaid, but it is a great team of people to work with. The intern is expected to have their own transportation, and be available 15-20 hours per week beginning in May.

Graphic Design Internship with US Club Soccer

The Graphic Design Intern will help engage US Club Soccer members and the public by designing creative graphics for digital and social media use. These efforts will align with and contribute to US Club Soccer’s communications and marketing initiatives. Graphic design content will support US Club Soccer’s overall brand, specific programs, existing and prospective partnerships and future initiatives. The ideal candidate also brings video production experience.

The Graphic Design Intern will report to the US Club Soccer Charleston office at 192 East Bay Street on a schedule to be coordinated with the Director of Communications. This is a paid summer internship.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create engaging graphics, driving the process from creative concept to polished product.
  • Assist in the strategizing and execution of posting graphics to social media, US Club Soccer digital platforms and email marketing outlets. Ultimately, this will lead to increased engagement and followers, as well as diversified content.
  • Contribute to the execution of pre-event, on-site and post-event communications plans.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to develop and refine resources to support sales and membership efforts.
  • Operations, project and event-based support on an as-needed basis.

This position requires an individual who is proactive, motivated and organized, and able to work cooperatively in a team environment while representing US Club Soccer in a professional manner. Additional qualifications are as follows:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in English, Communication, Marketing or a related field.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently, and produce high-quality output on deadlines.
