Introduction by Millar Elferdink

Guten tag! My name is Millar Elferdink. I am a rising senior majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. I am studying abroad in Germany for the summer with “CofC in Germany: Internship”. The program consists of a four-week immersive language course at Carl Duisberg Center in Berlin and an eight week internship. I chose this program because it was a challenge to improve my independence. I was also excited for the opportunity to advance my German language skills. I chose to complete my internship with the German Red Cross in the pathology unit. A few of my goals for my study abroad experience was to take a solo trip, have German only conversations and finally learn more about pathology to see if I want to apply to medical school. Most of my research about Germany came from taking language classes at CofC and making friends with the German exchange students who studied abroad in Charleston.
