Midpoint Reflection by Jillian Kabik

It is week 7 of my study abroad trip, and I couldn’t be happier. We are at our halfway point right now…it doesn’t feel real! This week, our whole group traveled to a few other Spanish cities. We went to Córdoba, Granada, and Seville. In Córdoba we saw the Mezquita, in Granada we saw the Alhambra, and in Seville we saw the famous cathedral. I now feel so much closer to everyone in my group, and I feel so grateful that we were given this opportunity to all travel together.

I am so happy that I decided to go on a faculty-led program. This week was set up for us by our first faculty leader, Devon Hanahan. Because of her, we have all felt so comfortable. She makes it her goal each day to make sure we all bond. She is always there for us when we need help and is also there when there is a time to celebrate all of our accomplishments. I have never felt so supported.

When I first left Charleston, I was nervous that I would return and no longer be close with my friends back home. But, I now know that is not going to be the case. I have still been able to touch base with all of my friends, and we have all shared our latest adventures. And, I have made so many new friends with those in my program. I know that if I have any trouble adjusting to life back in Charleston when I return, I have a whole support system consisting of 15 other students and 2 great professors to help me. I will be forever grateful for this experience.

The pictures below are from our excursion to Granada. The pictures were taken inside and outside of the Alhambra, the most visited monument in Spain.
