Julia Piermattei: Biology Major/Chemistry and Music Minors, Senior, CofC Faculty-Led Maymester Panama trip 

I chose this study abroad program because I thought Panama would be a great place to learn about ecology by observing and studying all of the biodiversity the country has to offer from the oceans, mountains, and rainforests.  

The goals I set during my study abroad was to try new things and become more immersed into the Panamanian culture.  There are so many amazing, local foods to try and learning more of the Spanish language will help me learn more about the Panamanian culture. 

Before traveling to Panama, I researched the weather, popular foods, abundant plants and animals, and popular things to do in Panama City.  I wanted to know quick facts about the country to better prepare for my trip.
