Time is flying by in Spain! by Isabel Solorio

The first month in Spain was interesting. It was pretty easy getting into a routine in this new environment. On Mondays, I only have one class in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have two classes, one from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the second from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday are special! Every Wednesday the school program takes us on fields trips to different part of Spain, which is one of the reason why I love this study abroad program. The first Wednesday we went to Caceres which is a city nearby about 45 minutes away from Trujillo. We toured the old city and went into castles and learned so much with our tour guide Antonio. I fell in love Caceres! In my opinion, Caceres is like Trujillo but bigger with more people, things to do and more restaurants. The second week we went to Madrid for an overnight trip for two nights. We visited two of the most famous art museums in Madrid, the Museo Sofia Reina and the Prado. I loved both museums but my favorite one was the Prado because I got to see some of Picasso’s artwork as well as Diego Velazquez Las Meninas. Also, I finally got eat some Mexican food which I had been craving since I had arrived. I know that everyone was excited to go back to a big city because it reminded us being back home. The third week, we visited a winery in the morning that was near the town of Guadalupe. Guadalupe is a very important town in Spain that has a lot of religious history. In the church that we toured, the first known image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is displayed. I’d definitely recommend this town to someone that is interested in learning more about religion.

September is gone and we only have two more months in Spain. It’s sad that it’s going by so fast but with school and all the traveling that we are also doing independently, it’s easy not to notice. So far being in Spain is everything and more I could have imagined!
