Reflection of My Time Spent in Banff, Canada by Cameron Long

For my first time leaving the country, I couldn’t have chosen a better destination than Canada. Banff exceeded every expectation with its stunning landscapes, thrilling winter activities, and the incredible people I met along the way.

Each day felt like stepping into a winter wonderland. I skied down snowy slopes, glided across a frozen lake on ice skates, raced through the mountains on a dog sled, and snowmobiled to breathtaking viewpoints. One of the funniest moments was tubing with friends, spinning uncontrollably and crashing into each other at the bottom while laughing the entire way. Every adventure brought a new rush of excitement and a deeper appreciation for Canada’s beauty.

The food was just as memorable. One night, we enjoyed an incredible Italian dinner, and on our final evening, we treated ourselves to a steakhouse feast with what felt like an endless stream of delicious dishes. Every meal felt well-earned after days packed with activity. But beyond the food and adventure, what truly made this trip special were the friendships I built. Traveling with a group of students, we quickly grew close, sharing inside jokes, late-night talks, and memories that will last a lifetime.
This trip wasn’t just about travel; it was also part of my Global Tourism and Hospitality course. Our class worked in different teams, handling everything from logistics to culinary planning and digital media. As part of the digital media team, I helped manage the Instagram @banffcofc, creating content to document our experiences. It was the perfect blend of work and fun, allowing me to capture the magic of the trip while fully immersing myself in every moment.

Looking back, Banff was more than just a destination. It was an experience that shaped me. I know this won’t be my last adventure, but Canada will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m beyond grateful to the Department of Hospitality and Tourism at the College of Charleston for making this journey possible.
