Our island trip yesterday has been my favorite part of the program so far. The boat we were on was a beautiful sailboat and we started the day with pastries and espresso from the ship. It was a beautiful, sunny, calm day and could not have been any more pristine for having a day on the water. It was about a two hour ride to the first island of Agistri where we docked and went right up to the bike rental business where we all hoped on our bikes to follow the captain for a tour around the island. This island was quaint and stunning, we first biked to a beautiful old church and then went on to bike through the village which led to a hiking trail. After hiking about 10 minutes up the trail we ended up at one of the most rocky crystal clear beaches I have ever seen. The beach was down from the cliff with a very steep path to get down which was intimidating but totally worth the fear to swim in that insane water. The beach had maybe 25 people on it and felt like a paradise oasis. We had about an hour and a half here and it was surely one spent where I was so happy and felt like a kid again. After that island we all got back on the boat and sailed to the next one named Moni. On our sail there we had a delicious lunch which consisted of pita, rice, chicken, greek salad, and lots of other goodies. The next island we went to was the pistachio capital and was enchanting. After docking we followed the captain again to a little stand where we tried pistachio products in about 10 different forms. Each was so new and tasty and then we made our way to get pistachio gelato that is freshly made. This gelato was so rich and had hints of chocolate in it as well. After eating I got to walk around to some of the shops and bought a few souvenirs. Lastly, we stopped by the island of Aegina. At this island we just anchored and got to swim off the back of the boat which was so much fun. After swimming we got back on the boat for our ride back to the port where we spent listening to music and dancing with friends.
