Before leaving to study abroad in Greece, I was worried about who I would be living with and
who I would be able to travel with. I knew that I wanted to travel throughout Greece and other European countries. At the time, I only knew one other girl who was studying abroad at the same university as me. So I had intentions of either traveling alone or traveling with people that I met throughout my time at The American College of Greece.
I moved into my dorm at the beginning of September and met my roommate. Me, my roommate,
and some of my suitemates began to talk about the idea of taking some weekend trips throughout
Greece and Europe. It was long after that and I was boarding my place with a group of girls that
were all from the United States. I think that since no one in my group knew each other prior to
coming to Greece, it helped us to learn more about each other. I never imagined that I would be
traveling the world with these strangers that have now become some of my closest friends.
The best days that I have spent during my study abroad were when me, my roommate, my best
friend, and a few of my suitemates went to Romania. We decided to spend five days in Romania
over one of our breaks. The people, food, and the atmosphere of Romania was amazing and
unforgettable. I loved visiting Bran Castle, the Palace of Parliament, and walking through the
small towns of Transylvania. The trip would not have been the same without my new friends.
The memories that I have created in Romania will never be forgotten because of the people that I
have made them with. I cannot wait to make more memories with my group throughout these last
few weeks in Greece.
