Food in London by Maria Enriquez Becerra

When coming to England it is a requirement to try as much delicious food as possible. There are so many different cultures here that you could walk down a street and taste every corner of the world. One thing that has helped me immensely to connect with the locals is food. The biggest concerns tourists have when visiting a different country has been whether or not they would like or if their stomach can handle the local food but I have quickly found out that not only did I love all the food recommendations given to me but that I have gone out of my way to try new cuisines. One of the stable foods here is Fish and Chips which is fried cod with french fries and it has definitely been the best fried fish I have ever had. With all the different markets available I like to wake up early in the morning to go to any of the markets because they offer some of the freshest produce and meals that you just can’t get at any grocery store. Not only does this expose me to the local and healthy cuisines but it gives me a chance to talk to the vendors and learn more about their lives and the food they grow. Living in Westminster London in the University of Westminster student dorms has allowed me to connect to the other students here. Whether they are from England, exchange, or study abroad students like me I had made friendships that I cherish deeply. Like the market vendors, I have a fantastic time connecting with my peers through our shared love for food and education. Throughout the time we have spent together here, we learned more about each other’s culture, customs, and perspectives which grew a greater appreciation for  the diversity here in London.
