Where do I begin? Spain has taught me so much in a span of 5 weeks. From how to formally greet someone to how to make Spanish dishes once I arrive back in the States. I have a little piece of Spain that I can also bring to others. On our final days in Trujillo it seemed as if I got even closer with my host family. Conversations were more deep, laughs were louder and the hugs got longer.
I was really going to miss my host family. I am so grateful for them and how kind they have been to me. I did not realize how hard the goodbyes were going to be. Goodbye to my host sisters who showed me how it felt to have big sisters. Goodbye to my host parents who always knew how to cheer me up even on the darkest days. Goodbye to the beautiful sunrises and sunsets of Trujillo. Now that I am looking back on what I said goodbyes aren’t what I meant to say. The right thing to say is thank you. Thank you for connections I know from studying abroad. Thank you for the new community I now have here at the College. And finally, the biggest thank you to the program as a whole. I have made lifelong friends and memories that I will never forget. I am so externally grateful for this experience and hope that everyone one day will be able to experience or similar to mind studying abroad. Our last few days we were in Madrid. Everyone was so sad about our last meal together but realized in the end we just started a new chapter in our lives and everyone was a part of it. I am happy I didn’t really have to say goodbye to my peers but see you soon! So long Spain, thank you for everything.
