My favorite food I’ve tried so far in Ireland is Dingle Sea Salt ice cream. It is from Murphy’s ice cream shop, and it is made with sea salt from the Dingle Bay in Ireland. It is amazing! I tried it in Galway first, but they have chains in other areas of Ireland as well. A typical day here involves hopping on the Luas (similar to a metro) to get to class. Before class, I stop at the Spar next door to get a smoothie and a pastry. They have great pastries and coffee shops on every corner here. From 9:00-11:30 I take a child psychology class. In this class we talk about attachment, preterm births, inclusion, cultural differences, and abnormal psychology. We have three major assignments including a participant observation, a podcast, and an essay. After that, I grab a quick lunch and head to a museum or other activity like walking through huge parks or taking the train to a seaside town nearby. I visited the Little Museum of Dublin, Dublinia Viking Museum, botanical gardens, and Dublin Castle. Dublin Castle was my favorite of all of these! As for seaside towns that are easy to get to, I visited Dalkey, Howth, and Bray. I loved being able to get out of the big city and walk along the water in these smaller towns. I usually grab dinner with friends or listen to live music at a local pub in the evenings. The live music scene here is so much fun and very much ingrained in the culture. The biggest difference I noticed was how people clap to almost every traditional Irish song. Clapping throughout the song shows the musicians that you are enjoying it and paying attention to their music. I loved this aspect and listening to so many traditional Irish songs.
