My name is Jamie Wirth, and I am a rising Junior in the Honors College at the College of Charleston. I am a Psychology major. This summer I am studying abroad for 4 weeks in Florence Italy through the CofC in Italy- Florence: Psychology & Italian Studies Program. I chose my program because I have always wanted to travel to Italy and explore/immerse myself in Italian culture. This study abroad program seemed like the perfect opportunity for me because it will allow me to fully immerse myself in a culture and country I am interested in and let me take an Italian culture-specific class and a psychology class for my major. While abroad, I am determined to make an effort to fully immerse myself in Italian culture by going to authentic restaurants and family-owned shops, visiting historic churches and museums, and making sure that I am fully aware of my surroundings and respect others. For my host country of Italy, I have done a fair amount of research on the City of Florence and have researched places I want to visit like the famous Uffizi Gallery, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Ponte Vecchio and to see the Statue of David.
