Reflection by Wassim Hadweh

When I thought about the idea of studying abroad I didn’t think it was going the way it actually went. In fact, I thought studying abroad is just something I should try but wasn’t too hopeful about the results. But thankfully, after 5 months in France, that changed the whole situation for multiple reasons. The main ones were that I relied on myself a lot in a lot of situations, which allows me to explore more things in life that I really like such as independence. Also, my being abroad taught me how to navigate anywhere I can possibly go without asking for help. On one hand, studying abroad is a really cool experience that I will highly recommend anyone to try. On the other hand, it is very valuable because it helps in setting your future up by starting to depend on yourself even more. The big big big advice that I will give anyone who is willing to go abroad is to be responsible and make the right decisions. In other words, you need to try to make 9 decisions out of 10 correctly, otherwise, you will be lost. Being responsible is a big benefit that I have gained abroad because I am 100% responsible in every single thing I do or make, and I dont have anyone to share that responsibility with me such as my parents. Therefore, that helps set you up for the future because at real-world jobs you need to be that way, which I am right now, and many thanks to that abroad experience. While I am abroad there were a lot of things to do, but the most thing I was so proud of doing is being able to reach out to Lenovo’s French national manager, to discuss with him some things regarding Lenovo for the project that I was working on in class, which made me realize that everything is possible to accomplish even getting in touch with very high ranked people. Overall studying abroad changed my entire way of thinking for me, and the reason is that now I became more open to the world, and started to learn how to adapt to new ways of living which also taught me that the world’s way of thinking about something, in particular, is totally different than ours, and a big example of it is the term “Business” If it comes to me I will 100% redo this adventure again, and yes I am currently looking into doing my masters abroad.
