Hello! My name is Symmi Auber and I am a Senior at the College of Charleston studying communications. I am currently studying in Florence Italy with CEA! I decided to choose this program because it is faculty lead by CofC teachers that I have had previously in college. I am completing the second half of my year long capstone project here in Italy. Being able to travel abroad and do classes in a more hands on way has already taught me so much about myself and helped me better understand the assignments I am given. As I mentioned I am a second semester senior which means when I return to Charleston at the end of the semester I will be graduating. This was not my first choice on timing to study abroad but I could not be more grateful to have one last shot of studying abroad with CofC. I hope to learn more about my own personal passions while in Florence and hopefully be able to have a clearer understanding of what type of field I see myself entering after I graduate. The communications field is pretty broad which can be a good thing but also challenging at times. One major goal of mine is to get to know my professors on a personal level and learn from them outside of the classroom as well. We are given a unique opportunity to all live in this new city
together and making every day count is very important to me. I have been to Florence once before so I have some background knowledge on the city, but being able to really immerse myself into the culture is what I am looking forward to the most. I hope that Florence feels like a second home for me. I have already started to meet unbelievable people both students and locals and know I will continue to do so as the semester goes on. The food here is delicious and the people are so friendly and wonderful as well!
