There are so many amazing events happening on and off campus for Charleston Pride week this year! Below are a few highlights of fun events – but be sure to visit Charleston Pride’s website for the full event calendar so you don’t miss out on any of the celebration!

Event Highlight: Criminal Justice Panel Discussion
Thursday, September 12 – 6:30-9:00pm – RITA 101

Join the ACLU of South Carolina in a panel discussion about civil liberties issues affecting LGBTQ people. Hosted in partnership with the Ryan White Wellness Center and Charleston Pride, this event will feature special guest Timothy Wilcots, better known as RuPaul Drag Race’s Latrice Royale, who will share their story about experiencing the criminal justice system as an LGBTQ person of color. Prior to and following the event, the ACLU of SC will provide voter registration and information. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.  Doors open at 6:30 PM.


Event Highlight: LGBTLOL
Friday, September 13 – Doors 7:00, Show at 8:00 – Charleston Music Hall

Come celebrate humanity and show your Pride at a night of comedy featuring some of your favorite stand-up comics, who also happen to be members of the LGBTQ community. Headliner is Ky Krebs, hosted by Jenn Snyder. Featuring comedians Shawna Jarrett, Julie Osborne, Ava Smartt, and Shaine Laine. Tickets are $10 with CHSPRIDE promo code!


Event Highlight: Charleston Pride Parade & Festival
Saturday, September 14 – 9:00am-3:00pm – King Street, Brittlebank Park

March with CofC WGS, Prism, and MORE!
Interested in marching in the Pride Parade on the morning of Saturday, September 14? Join your fellow Cougars and march together with us! Look for us in light blue Charleston Pride t-shirts at Wragg Square at 8:30AM. Come join in on the fun!

For the festival, head to Brittlebank Park, beside the beautiful Ashley River, to walk among vendors, food trucks, and beer and alcohol sales, all while taking in entertainment and speakers from the stage. Nothing says Pride like a day in the park. Show your Pride and plan to celebrate! Headline act is Todrick Hall. Also featuring entertainment by DJ Beck Danger and the Empress and Emperor of Charleston Pride!

    • Panels, breakouts, and a Wellness Village focusing on women of color, health disparities, concerns, and solutions. Read more about the Be Well Expo here.
  • March 11 – Super Sheroes: Superwomen Who Inspire Us – EHHP Alumni Center – 6:00-8:00PM
    • An inspiring message by SC Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter, followed by food, fun, and engagement. All are welcome! Hosted by OID, MSPS, SDIC, and CofC College Democrats.
  • March 12 – Activism Lunch & Learn – Stern 201 – 12:00-1:30PM
    • A lunchtime discussion featuring student and community activists making a difference on campus and in Charleston. Open to the public. Lunch provided. Read more here
  • March 13 – Campus Communities Fair – George St. – 11:00-1:00PM
    • Student Government Association is hosting a street fair to showcase the diverse communities that make up our campus. Multiple student organizations and members from the Charleston community will come together with food, music, and other celebrations!
  • March 14 – “RBG” Film Screening – ECTR 118 – 6:00-9:00 PM
    • A birthday celebration of assorted pies and refreshments in honor of Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg’s birthday and National Pi Day. Hosted by CofC College Democrats and SDIC.

Rise Up for Reproductive Rights Rally

On March 9th, Rise Up! A Rally for Reproductive Rights will be held at the State House in Columbia, SC starting at 10:30am. There is a bus taking people (Leaving at 7:45 AM and returning around 2:00 PM) and if anyone wants to speak on their experiences accessing reproductive health care they are able to speak as well! They can sign up to go and to speak in the same link:
