A New Initiative
In Spring of 2019, WGS launched the WGS Student Funding Opportunities initiative so that students may apply for funding to support engagement in study abroad, internships, community-based learning projects, and research/scholarly activities. Funding for these opportunities is made possible because of our generous sponsors in the community and on campus.
Eligibility:
Funding available through this initiative is restricted to WGS majors and minors who have completed a minimum of 12 hours in WGS (if you do not meet this criterion, do not be dismayed, contact Dr. De Welde! There may be a way you can still apply). The application (located here) asks for details about your project, your timeline, your budget and funding request, and if relevant a letter of support from a faculty mentor.
Deadline:
Rolling deadline; 30-day advance notice before funds are needed.
Awards:
$50-$1,000. Number and award amounts will vary and depend on budget availability. Awards cannot be used for student salaries (such as on a research project), faculty stipends, or direct payments to community organizations/businesses with which a student is partnered.
