President – Joshua E. Bloodworth

Me

Joshua E. Bloodworth serves as the MPASA President for the 2015-2016 academic year.  He is from the small town of Cope, SC, where he went to Edisto High School.  After graduating, he enrolled at Coastal Carolina University and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science.  His original plan was go to The Charleston School of Law, but after reconsideration, the College of Charleston’s MPA program was a much better fit. Alongside his academic interest in government, he is intrigued with higher education administration.  Josh is highly involved on campus and is part of several organizations: GSA, MPASA, SLAB, and One in Four at CofC.  Some of his favorite activities include playing basketball, completing puzzles, playing scrabble, and spending time with close friends.

Vice President (Fall) – Caitlin Coleman

Caitlin Coleman serves as the MPASA Vice President for the 2015-2016 academic year. is concentrating on Nonprofit Management while getting her MPA degree here at the College of Charleston. She is from Denver, Colorado and attended University of Colorado at Boulder for her bachelor’s degrees in English and Psychology. She currently works as a graduate assistant at the Riley Center for Livable communities and is passionate about sustainable agriculture, animal rights, and health and wellness education. Her favorite things to do are travel, see live music with her husband and play with her dog Guyute at the beach.

Vice President (Spring) – Janna Peterson

Janna Peterson serves as a MPASA senator for the 2015-2016 academic year. She is from Asheville, North Carolina and is a mountain girl through and through. She graduated with a B.A. in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She is an avid whitewater kayaker and rafter and followed her passion for the outdoors by moving to Charleston in the summer of 2015 to pursue an environmental management concentration in the University of Charleston’s Public Administration program. She also works as a research analyst for the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center and is also a graduate research assistant for the university’s Community Assistance Program.

Treasurer – Sarah Fichera

Sarah Fichera serves as the MPASA Treasurer for the 2015-2016 academic year.  She is from a suburb outside New York City, where she lived until enrolling at Providence College in Providence, RI. There, she earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Public and Community Service with a concentration in Environmental Science.  Upon graduation, she followed her passion for health and wellness and worked at lululemon athletica, while also volunteering as a run coach. Feeling disconnected from service, she took a chance and moved to Charleston, South Carolina to serve as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at the Mayor’s Office for Children, Youth, and Families. After a year of serving in the public sector, Sarah decided to enroll in the College of Charleston’s MPA program. Now, in her first semester of graduate school, she is excited to be a part of the program and MPASA. When she is not hitting the books, you can catch her running, swimming, and biking around the Holy City!

Events Coordinator – Emily Pasko

Emily Pasko is the 2015-2016 Events Coordinator for the MPASA, coordinating monthly Happy Hour events and other seasonal parties for students and professors. Emily received a BA in Studio Art from College of Charleston in 2012. She will receive a Master’s in Public Administration and an Arts Management Certificate in May 2016. In addition, she is working as the Graduate Assistant for Arts Management at CofC. After finishing her studies at CofC, she plans to pursue a career in outreach and educational programming for a visual arts non-profit organization.

Volunteer Coordinator – Chelsea Connor

Chelsea Connor is the 2015-2016 Volunteer Coordinator for the MPASA. Chelsea attended Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina where she graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Social Work. Chelsea works at Blackbaud while also working on her Masters in Public Administration and an Arts Management certificate at College of Charleston. A lover of yoga, comedy, travel and a big cup of coffee.

GSA Senator – Kate Lilly

Kate Lilly serves as a GSA senator on the MPASA’s Executive Board for the 2015-2016 academic year. She is from the small town of Beckley, West Virginia and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She attended West Virginia University, where she served as Public Relations Chair in Sigma Kappa Sorority, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Her original plan was to attend law school but after careful reconsideration, the MPA program at the College of Charleston was a better fit for her career goals. Her academic interests include domestic public policy, government, and the non-profit sector. In her spare time she enjoys reading political biographies, going to concerts, spending time with friends, and keeping up with current events.

 

GSA Senator- Stewart Thomas 

Stewart M. Thomas serves as an MPASA Senator for the 2015-2016 academic year. He is from Greenville, South Carolina, where he attended Greenville Technical Charter High School. After graduating, he enrolled at Presbyterian College in the small town of Clinton, South Carolina. While there he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science. Like others, his original plan was to go to either The Charleston School of Law or The Law School at the University of South Carolina. After careful consideration, he decided to enroll at the College of Charleston in pursuit of his Master’s in Public Administration. Alongside his academic interests in government, he is intrigued with local planning and public policy. Some of his favorite activities include playing basketball, running, hanging out with friends, and volunteering.

GSA Senator- Victoria Davis

Victoria Davis serves as a the MPASA Senator for the 2015-2016 academic year. She is from Hanahan, South Carolina and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of Charleston in 2013, with minors in Studio Art and Asian Studies. An undergraduate internship at the Mayor’s Office for Children, Youth, and Families began her interest in policy research and evaluation. This is Victoria’s first semester of the MPA program, and she is thrilled to be back at the College of Charleston. She currently works at South State Bank, and her hobbies include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, painting, and enjoying the beautiful Charleston area.
