This year the Southern History of Education Society will meet on March 15-17, on the College of Charleston campus. The conference will be held at the Avery Research Center. (125 Bull St.)
Lee Drago, History Professor at the College of Charleston will present a talk on Initiative, Paternalism and Race Relations: Charleston’s Avery Normal Institute.
Also attending the conference is History alumnus, Otis W. Pickett, now at the University of Mississippi. He will speak on The Rev. Cyrus Kingsbury, Rev. T.C. Stuart and Christian Education Missions to the Choctaw and Chickasaw in North Mississippi from 1819-1832.
